Meet Our Doctors

DeRose Dental was started in Racine, Wisconsin in 1950 by husband and wife team, Dr. Michael DeRose and Dr. Dorothy DeRose.  Dr. Michael was a Periodontist, specializing in the treatment of gum diseases.  Dr. Dorothy was a Pedodontist, specializing in the treatment of children.  She was the first female graduate of Northwestern Dental School in Chicago and the first female dentist in Wisconsin to obtain a post doctorate Masters of Dentistry in Pediatric Dentistry.  She often laughed that the dean of the dental school told her, "Dorothy, you better be a productive dentist because you just took away a job from a man!"  And productive she was!  She practiced for over 40 years, served thousands of patients- often several generations of the same family, was active in organized dentistry and dental education, and was a role model for both of her daughters and 2 granddaughters to become dentists. The DeRose family dental tradition of providing excellent dental services in a caring and gentle manner to entire families of patients continues on.
